Monday, 12 July 2010 00:00

Following Sub prefectorial decision no 54/2010, suspending Mr. Samuel Ekwalla Njie of his functions as Third Class Chief of Bonadikombo in Limbe I sub division, the Nanyowe family of Bonadikombo has presented stunning documents justifying their claim to the disputed throne.

A letter by David Esombe Nanyowe, member of the Nayowe family to the SDO for Fako says “I have the honour to forward to you documents related to the above subject matter and a detailed sociological, ethological and chronological analysis which will help you better understand the chieftaincy saga and reasons why the Nanyowe family continues to lay claim to the chieftaincy stool in Bonadikombo by protesting against the three past consultation”.

Menka People To Revamp Cultural Association To Foster Unity PDF Print E-mail

Menka elements have like one man moved to revamp the Menka Cultural and Development Association, MENCUDA, which has been comatose for several years now.

The message of peace and unity among the people of Menka ran across all the speeches last weekend in Buea during the second sensitisation meeting of MENCUDA that brought together Menka sons and daughters from all the nocks and crannies of the country.

The Menka clan from Widikum sub division, in Momo Division of the North West Region is made up of 25 villages with a dominantly agricultural population but the plight of the people remains the lack of good roads.

Fako Chiefs Honour Illustrious Sons PDF Print E-mail

Tuesday, 22 June 2010 06:44

The Chief’s palace in Upper Muea Palace in Buea sub division was Saturday 12 June jammed to capacity as the traditional rulers of Fako Division paid homage to two of their illustrious sons recently appointed to posts of responsibilities.

The civic reception was organised by the Fako Divisional Chiefs Conference in honour of Churchill Ewumbue Monono and Professor Jacob Mbua Ngeve who were  recently appointed Technical Adviser at the Presidency of the Republic and Director General of IRAD (Institute of Research and Agronomical Development) respectively.

Even though the organisers seemed a little disappointed at the absence of one of the guests of honour, Churchill Ewumbue Monono, the ceremony placed in a typical Bakweri traditional setting went on under the watchful eyes of the Social and Cultural Adviser at the South West Governor’s office, Edwin Nkenya Ngwana and other administrative authorities.

The ball was set rolling with an ecumenical service to thank God for His blessings to Fako which the lead clergy described as God’s gift to Cameroon. While the Imam of Buea reminded faithful that authority comes from God, Fako indigenes were equally cautioned to shun backstabbing and political infighting for positions.

According to the President of the Fako Divisional Chiefs Conference, Chief David Molinge Ikome, whose palace hosted the event, the appointments of the two sons of the land come as a logical compensation for meritorious services to the nation through hard work, commitment, assiduity and discipline.

“We are therefore proud to count you amongst those of our sons and daughters who have continued to bring glory, dignity and honour to our land”, he stated.

While expressing appreciation to the Head of State for recognising their positive contributions to nation building, Chief Molinge said like Oliver Twist, Fako still needs more of such appointments.

The traditional ruler allayed claims by pressmen that the event was politically motivated, arguing that the home-coming was intended to give their traditional blessings to their sons.

To one of the appointees, Prof. Ngeve, the blessing of Fako as far as the national cake is concerned has been enormous, reason why he called on his tribesmen to reciprocate the confidence the Head of State has bestowed on them by supporting him as the natural candidate for the 2011 Presidential election. He assured his kith and kin that they will live up to expectation and deploy all efforts to keep the Fako flag flying.

Speaking on behalf of Fako Elite Development Organisation, FEDO, Mola Ekema Luma lauded the initiative, which, he said, will foster unity and development in Fako. Ekema, however, urged the appointees to develop the spirit of selflessness so that the human resources of the area would be fully harnessed.

The home-coming ceremony was graced by a constellation of traditional choral groups and the famous ‘Nganya’ and ‘Maley’ dance groups.

Researcher Akwo J. Dibo Takes On Prof Lovett Elango

I have read with interest and a lot of concern, the cited story carried by your renowned newspaper of Monday 1 –Wednesday 3 February 2010 and have sadly concluded that Professor Emeritus Lovett Z. Elango only succeeded in raising questions without attempting to provide answers.

As a Journalist, Historian and Researcher that he is, one would have expected him to come up with a contrary report of those published, with the relevant references but instead took the liberty to denigrate the reporter and the Mukete family.
