The Ministers of Social Affairs and that of Forestry and Wildlife have jointly presided over the second meeting of the pilot committee put in place to elaborate a development plan for pygmies of the East and South Regions of Cameroon.

The development plan spells out a number of measures to be put in place to enhance the socio-economic empowerment of the pygmies in these regions.

Two bandits in Bamenda have been killed by the police.

The bandits were shot dead by elements of the judicial police below the Presbyterian Church Azire in Mankon, Bamenda in the night breaking Thursday 2 September 2010. The shooting to death of the two armed robbers resulted after an exchange of gun shots between the bandits and the police officers.

Armed robbers in the night of 23 August shot dead a trader at the Congo Market.
Witnesses said the victim, a certain Marcel Donfack who lives nearby, attempted to stop the hoodlums from broking into his warehouse. The bandits simply shot him dead and continued their operation at his off-licence without any worry. The incident is raising the problem of security of goods and persons in most market is the economic capital.

The corpse of 8-year-old Megane Priscille Mbakop, who had been kidnapped on Wednesday 18 August 2010 was recently found dead in an advanced state of decomposition around her family house in Nyalla, Douala on Saturday 21 August 2010.
One of the principal accused who has now been arraigned took security forces to where the child had been buried.

Meta youths in Mbengwi, Momo Division under the umbrella of Meta Youth Cultural and Development Association, MEYOCUDA, have been drilled to embrace their culture and adopt careers that will develop their skills.

This was during a one-day workshop on Saturday 7 August 2010, organised by the Meta Cultural and Development Association, MECUDA, as part of its activities to inculcate the dwindling Meta culture in the youths and also to introduce their siblings to some projects that have been carried out by MECUDA.

A young girl in Bamenda whose only name we got as Adel is reported to have announced her own death and scheduled a burial programme with the claim that she fell sick and was not properly catered for.

The girl who lives around the Ntarinkon neighbourhood in Bamenda fell sick and was rushed to the hospital where she was receiving treatment. A couple of days later, she is reported to have died.

Eden Gets Douala Office
The Douala bureau of the Eden Newspaper was opened last week. It is located at Ancienne Immeuble Nobra (around Ancienne Dalip) in Akwa.
The bureau, according one if its coordinators, Dickson Njoke, seeks to fully implant the paper in the Littoral and to offer space for potential advertisers for both Eden Newspaper and Eden Radio FM 98.1 which broadcasts from Limbe. He said there is also room for interns and their telephone numbers 74668899, 70180694 and 33094046 remain open to all shades of opinion.
