Accidents Kill Many Tell a Friend
By Linda Agbor
Wednesday, 12 November 2008
Ten persons have been reported dead in an accident that involved two buses and two Lorries, along the Yaounde-Bafia highway. The casualities are current in the Yaounde and Bafia hospitals, pending burial
Still, a ghastly car accident that occurred along the Yaoundé – Obala high-way, recently, has led to the dead of five persons including the Paramount Chief of Eton in Obala. Reports say an inter-urban 15-seater transport bus en-route to Obala, crashed into the car of the Paramount Chief, which was driving from the opposite direction.

The impact of collision was horrible, and two persons were reported dead on the spot while both vehicles were twisted beyond recognition.

The Paramount Chief of Eton in Obala died on the spot, as he was trapped on the steering wheel of his car that had been trampled.

The driver of the inter-urban transport mini-bus did not survive the crash.

Three other victims later gave up the ghost at the Yaounde Central Hospital where they had been evacuated.
Both accidents have been blamed on excessive speed and recklessness of the drivers.
