Lawyers defending Zaccheus Mungwe Forjindam who has been accused of allegedly embezzling close to FCFA 900 million of public funds, are demanding the services of a graphologist to examine the authenticity of some documents which purportedly incriminate the former General Manager,of the National Industrial Shipyard Engineering Company, Chantier Naval. In a petition filed to the Wouri High Court by Barristers Innocent Bornu and Barnabe Nekuie ,they argue that the evidence against their client was fabricated.
They denounce certain receipts from a supplier of CNIC, FERMAC on grounds that they were not signed by Forjindam at the time he was General Manager.
Barristers Bonu and Nekuie said they found lots of disparities between the documents from the auditor and what they said were photocopies produced by the then accountant of Chantier Naval, Charles Kooh. They appealed to the presiding Judge at the Wouri High Court, Eyike Vieux to mount pressure on Charles Kooh to produce the originals of the documents which he claims incriminate Zaccheus Forjindam or release him.
They also insist on having the services of a graphologist who would study the authenticity of the signatures in the different documents made available to the court. It would be recalled that during one of Forjindam's hearings, he had said the receipts produced by the accountants were fake and argued that his signature had been forged.
He had found incompatibility with the serial numbers of the cheques presented. Forjindam's lawyers in their petition also said the statements made by the current General Manager of Chantier Naval Antoine Bikoro and Charles Kooh during their testimonies at the Wouri High Court on 23 October 2008 were very contradictory.
According to a court ruling singed by the presiding Judge at the Wouri High Court , Vieux Eyike issued on 4 November 2008( copy of which Eden procured) Antoine Bikoro is quoted as saying the originals of receipts from the supplying firm FERMAC were in the accountants keeping.
