CMF Is A Very Strong Arm Of The Church The CMF has a lot of objectives. First of all, it’s to build a fellowship between men and build a closer friendship for the same men to know Christ deeply. The movement helps relate this relationship with their families in the society, the world and in the church, particularly. To be precise, the Christian Men Fellowship movement is a very strong arm of the church in fostering Christian fellowship within a given congregation, presbytery and the society as a whole. As Cameroon braces up for the challenges of decentralisation, particular attention has been directed at redressing corruption. On 8 December 2004, when Ephraim Inoni was named Prime Minister and Head of Government many are those who thought his anti-corruption exploits as proven in the previous ‘Operation antelope’ would yield significant results. But four years after, precisely on 8 December 2008 Eden went down the streets to find out from Cameroonians how Inoni has fared in four years. Very Important For Me I do very much appreciate the initiative of the forum. It aims at bringing together graduates like myself, students on the one hand and employers and businessmen on the other to create an environment whereby students and unemployed graduates know when and how to table their demands in terms of job needs. Graduate As Hardened Criminals The notion that prisons are reformatory centres, is a loud sounding nothing especially when you take a close look at prisons in Cameroon. Prisoners, when they leave after serving their respective jail terms, graduate more hardened. The reason is that, their conditions are wanting. While in prison, there is no difference between a detainee who committed a misdemeanor or felony as they are not separated in different cells but are obliged to be incarcerated in the same cell. The consequence is that most hardened criminals spend time lecturing the others on the benefits of becoming hardened. With this, the whole idea that prisons are meant for reformation dies, reason why ex-convicts are constantly found behind bars. Expose Security Lapses The attack on Limbe-based financial institutions recently has really exposed our security especially within the military corps. It is scandalous to see that bandits or pirates came to Limbe and attacked banks for close to 3 hours without any intervention from the military. What is even more scandalous is that, the Minister of Defence said he was aware of the attack and unfortunately he didn’t take any preventive measures, especially with the countless military barracks we have around Limbe. What is has Government been doing till date when we understand investigations have been opened to the matter. Government should expose the assailants so that justice can be done. Enhance Development If this money is recovered from embezzlers I think that what the common man needs are basic facilities and other commodities like roads, pipe borne water and rural electrification. If government recovers this money, it should go to the rural arrears and think of the road infrastructure, which can enhance development. Elvis McCarthy Akumbom, Afrique Nouvelle FM, Bamenda. Ever since the International Court of Justice officially declared Bakassi as Cameroonian territory in October 2002, the process of completely handing over and delimitation of boundaries between the two countries has been dragging on since then. In a bid to speed up the process, leaders of both Cameroon and Nigeria and other international observers met in Greentree, USA under the auspices of former UN Secretary General, Kofi Annan to map out practical modalities for the complete handover of Bakassi to Cameroon. With the final handover slated for next month, August 2008, and with repeated attacks and killing of Cameroonians in the area, there is uncertainty as to whether the handing over exercise will come and go in peace. Eden went down the streets to get the opinion of Cameroonians on next month’s exercise. Be the first to comment this article | Views: 176 | Tell a Friend | + Read More... |
