Cameroon’s position at the just completed Nations Cup is appreciated by peripheral spectators but regular football enthusiasts have their heads down, despite the players’ strain. The 26th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations ended in Ghana last 10 January. The finalists – Pharaohs of Egypt and Indomitable Lions of Cameroon ended on a “1-0” . Perennial Nations Cup favourites, Ivory Coast easily thrashed Benin in Sekondi to preserve their monopoly in Group B. They became the first team to qualify for the second round of the tiournament.

A wounded and reinvigorated Indomitable Lions of Cameroon on Saturday 26 January devoured the Chipolopolos of Zambia 5-1. Playing at the Baba Yara stadium in Kumasi, Ghana, the Lions had an easy ride over the Zambians.
