Perennial Nations Cup favourites, Ivory Coast easily thrashed Benin in Sekondi to preserve their monopoly in Group B. They became the first team to qualify for the second round of the tiournament. Didier Drogba netted at the 40th minutes before Barcelona's Yaya Toure hit home late in the first half with Kader Keita pouncing on a defensive error on 52 minutes and Aruna Dindane converting the fourth ten minutes later. A wounded and reinvigorated Indomitable Lions of Cameroon on Saturday 26 January devoured the Chipolopolos of Zambia 5-1. Playing at the Baba Yara stadium in Kumasi, Ghana, the Lions had an easy ride over the Zambians. The Lions attack, man by striker, Samuel Eto’o Fils, Joseph Desire Job and Achilles Emana, had a goal scoring spree.
