Cameroon’s position at the just completed Nations Cup is appreciated by peripheral spectators but regular football enthusiasts have their heads down, despite the players’ strain. The 26th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations ended in Ghana last 10 January. The finalists – Pharaohs of Egypt and Indomitable Lions of Cameroon ended on a “1-0” .

Ivory Coast Flogs Benin

Perennial Nations Cup favourites, Ivory Coast easily thrashed Benin in Sekondi to preserve their monopoly in Group B. They became the first team to qualify for the second round of the tiournament.
Didier Drogba netted at the 40th minutes before Barcelona's Yaya Toure hit home late in the first half with Kader Keita pouncing on a defensive error on 52 minutes and Aruna Dindane converting the fourth ten minutes later.

Indomitable Lions Devour Zambia

A wounded and reinvigorated Indomitable Lions of Cameroon on Saturday 26 January devoured the Chipolopolos of Zambia 5-1. Playing at the Baba Yara stadium in Kumasi, Ghana, the Lions had an easy ride over the Zambians.
The Lions attack, man by striker, Samuel Eto’o Fils, Joseph Desire Job and Achilles Emana, had a goal scoring spree.

The Confederation of African Football is expected to call Benin’s coach Reinhard Fabisch for a hearing following his allegations of being approached to help fix the result of his side's match against Mali.
Benin lost the Group B match 1-0 after conceding a second-half penalty.
