The All Bakossi Conference: Blending Culture And Development
By Zachee Nzoh-Ngandembou
Wednesday, 10 December 2008
More than three decades ago, Cameroon’s pioneer Head of State, Ahmadou Ahidjo, during an august public hearing in the present North West Region of Cameroon noted “the culture of a people is their mark of nobility”.
Decades later, the Bakossi people of the South West Region of Cameroon not only  find in this remark the true meaning of unity, but the essence of collective effort in the search for development .
As diverse as the concept of development may appear to be, the Bakossi people, without any fear of contradiction, are resolved to embrace the positive challenges that come with impacting individual lives and communities.

Wednesday, 10 December 2008
The story goes of an old man, who on his death-bed asked his five children to appear before him with a stick each, the size of his thumb. Once before him, he ordered each to break his stick. Everyone one did so with ease. He then obliged them to fetch a stick each again. They complied and handed all the sticks to him. The old man then tightly roped the sticks together and dared anyone break them. In turn, every one tried to no avail. Repeated attempts ended in dismal failure.
