The Sudano- Sahelian climate pattern experienced in Northern Cameroon gives room for a maximum five months of rainfall and some seven months of extreme dryness. When it rains, it does so at times so violently and causes floods that lead to severe loss of property, farmland and even lives. (The last rains this year killed three persons in Garoua). When the dry season comes, temperatures rise up to 45°C at times. The nights are so hot in March and April and most families prefer to sleep outdoors.
