The inhabitants of Kumba will go soccer crazy during this Christmas holiday thanks to the donation of a FCFA 3 million football trophy by former Indomitable Lion defender, Pius Essa, now based in the United States of America, USA. 
Being in its 3rd Edition and dubbed “Essa Pius Football Competition” it, shall bring together eight Kumba-based football clubs namely; Haskey FC, Liverpool FC, Alepoque FC, Kumba Town FC, Buea Road FC Bagdad FC.

Tiko United Preparing For Professional League

The Samba boys of Tiko United football club and very vibrant supporters are already building the stage for the long-talked-of and awaited professional league, which has been on the lips of FECAFOOT authorities for some time now most especially with the communication rights now in the hands of GTV.
In an attempt to understand what operates in professional leagues in Europe, Nigeria and elsewhere, the officials of the team are gradually gathering information and putting in place targets which will lead them to the professional league.

Pioneer National Olympics Begins 10 December

Kalkaba MalboumCameroon for the first time is organising a National Olympic Games dubbed DIXIADE involving all the ten regions in the country.
The Olympic competition in ten sports discipline will take place in Yaounde from 10-20 December 2008.
The president of the Cameroon National Olympic Federation Colonel, Kalkaba Malboum, told press men in Yaounde last week that the competition is aimed at not only tapping budding talents from their hideouts but also to promote the culture of Olympics in Cameroon.

Toure Doubt For Arsenal

Arsenal defender Kolo Toure is a big doubt for the English Premier League clash with Manchester City this weekend.
The Cote d’Ivoire centre-half suffered a calf injury while playing for his country and is set to join England’s Theo Walcott on the sidelines.
Emmanuel Adebayor and Carlos Vela are expected back this morning from their international commitments.

For the first time in three years Chelsea’s midfielder Michael Essien has missed out on making FIFA’s shortlist for World Player of the Year award which was announced on October 29.
The Ghanaian midfield enforcer who is currently recovering from a recent knee operation had been nominated for the award the previous three years.

Barcelona striker Samuel Eto’o was the victim of racist chanting during the second half of Saturday’s 4-1 Primera Liga win at Malaga, Spanish media reported on Sunday.
One section of the crowd made monkey noises when the Cameroon international touched the ball and whistled at him when he was substituted near the end, newspapers including El Pais and Marca reported.

MTN Elite One Starts Weekend

The MTN Elite One championship in Cameroon will get underway this weekend, marking the 50th national division one championship. A total of 14 clubs compete in the championship, which had originally been set to begin last month.
For this season, the clubs have been reduced from 16 to 14 and face licensing criteria for the first time, which has led to the postponement of the start of the championship.

Barcelona chief Txiki Begiristain is delighted with the prolific early season form of their Cameroonian star forward Samuel Eto’o.
Eto’o was on the verge of being released by Barca coach Pep Guardiola at the start of the season because of the unrest in the dressing room last season.
