Cameroon for the first time is organising a National Olympic Games dubbed DIXIADE involving all the ten regions in the country. The Olympic competition in ten sports discipline will take place in Yaounde from 10-20 December 2008. The president of the Cameroon National Olympic Federation Colonel, Kalkaba Malboum, told press men in Yaounde last week that the competition is aimed at not only tapping budding talents from their hideouts but also to promote the culture of Olympics in Cameroon. The MTN Elite One championship in Cameroon will get underway this weekend, marking the 50th national division one championship. A total of 14 clubs compete in the championship, which had originally been set to begin last month. For this season, the clubs have been reduced from 16 to 14 and face licensing criteria for the first time, which has led to the postponement of the start of the championship.
