The commander of Zimbabwe’s air force has been wounded in what officials are calling an assassination attempt. Perence Shiri, 53, a close ally of President Mugabe, seen as one of the most feared military leaders, was shot in the arm and is said to be stable. The opposition MDC says he was one of the masterminds of violence against its supporters during this year’s election.
Records have it that the oldest church Fellowship in the Present Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, former Basel Mission, was what is now called the Christian Youth Fellowship, CYF, which was formed in 1959 as a movement of young Presbyterians. Two years after, in 1961, the women of the church came together under the banner of the Christian Women’s Fellowship and became one of the biggest gatherings of Christian Women in Cameroon with branches all over the world. It took the men of the church 20 years after the formation of the Christian Women’s Fellowship to decisively set up a movement and in 1981 the Christian Men’s Fellowship was born in the Presbyterian Church in CameroonTwenty seven years after, the group which many thought would not survive the test of time is still waxing strong.
